If a pet is lost or found around Lake Lanier, each county runs its own animal-services department and shelter -- that is where a real report belongs, not here. Lanier Local does not collect lost- or found-pet reports, does not store a description or contact detail, and does not operate any shelter. Always confirm current hours and process directly with the named source below.

Area: Gainesville, Hall County
Hall County's own lost-and-found page directs residents to Petco Love Lost, a free lost-and-found database with photo-matching that aggregates listings from shelters, Nextdoor, and Neighbors by Ring. The county also publishes a separate phone line for urgent situations such as an injured or abandoned animal, outside business hours -- current numbers are on the official page, not repeated here to avoid duplicating (and risking stale) contact details.

Forsyth County holds stray animals for 5 days, and animals with a collar or microchip for 10 days, to allow time for reunification. The Center is open for reclaiming Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. (Sunday and Monday by appointment). Gwinnett County Animal Welfare & Enforcement -- Bill Atkinson Animal Welfare Center
Area: Gwinnett County (Buford / Sugar Hill area)
The county's own Available Pets listing updates throughout the day -- check it first, then call the number on the official page with a description and the address where the pet was last seen. Bring photo ID and proof of ownership (such as veterinary records) to reclaim an animal at the shelter.

Dawson County Animal Control
Area: Dawsonville, Dawson County
Dawson County Animal Control handles stray pickup and animal-control matters directly. The separate Dawson County Humane Society is a shelter only, with no pickup authority -- if a pet ends up there, the owner reclaims it directly from the Humane Society during its normal hours, not from Animal Control.
